CDBS

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), operated by Medicare, provides eligible children with rebates to cover various dental services over a 2-calendar-year duration. The capped dental services amount to $1,000 during this two-year window, starting with the child’s first eligible dental service.

Eligibility Overview

Families receiving benefits such as Family Tax Benefit A payments, catering to children aged 2 to 17 eligible for Medicare and receiving specific benefits, are covered. This encompasses various benefit schemes such as the Veterans’ Children Education Scheme (VCES) and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme for children aged 16 and over.

Eligibility is assessed annually, commencing from the year’s outset, and carrying throughout. Any unutilised funds in the first year are extended to the subsequent year.

Covered Services

Under the CDBS, dental services include examinations, routine cleaning, repairing cracked teeth, fillings, root canals, and various others. The services range from routine dental checks to procedures such as extractions and partial dentures. However, orthodontic treatments, cosmetic dental work, and hospital-based dental services are not part of the CDBS scheme.

Tuncurry Dental Practice proudly provides services under the CDBS. For further information, please find details here.
